Stacks is a new way to save up for big purchases. On the back-end, Stacks is a virtual prepaid card that is created at our banking partner. You can deposit funds into Stacks, use the virtual card to make purchases at a specific brand partner, and get rewarded.

1. Receive a Stacks offer from either Obsidian or one of our brand partners
2. Log in to Stacks on Obsidian’s website by entering your email address and a verification code
3. Go through a simple onboarding process by providing some basic information, like your name and address
4. Link a funding source for Stacks via Plaid. This is the account you’ll use to deposit money into Stacks
5. Review terms & conditions and accept your Stacks offer
6. Make your first deposit
7. Continue to make deposits over time
8. When you’re ready to make a purchase, use your virtual card to make a purchase at the brand associated with your Stacks offer
9. After you make a purchase, you'll get cash back into your linked funding source within 60 days

No, Stacks is flexible. Customers are essentially saving up funds with a merchant and can use it for any purchase at the merchant in a SKU-agnostic manner.

We support cash back redemptions.

Any leftover funds in a customer’s Stacks balance will be automatically transferred to their externally linked deposit account.

Yes - customers can withdraw their funds at any time with no fees or penalties. If they withdraw their funds, they forgo any rewards they’ve earned so far.

The customer’s funds are returned back to their Stacks balance. They can either use the funds to make another purchase or withdraw their funds. If they choose to withdraw their funds and the reward type was cash back, we attempt to claw back their rewards.

No - Obsidian only stores a tokenized version of a customer’s external bank account information rather than raw values.
